On Friday, January 20th, Schuylkill River Towns will host The Death And Rebirth Of The Schuylkill River at Centre Theater on Dekalb Street. This free event begins at 5:30 pm and will feature the history of the Schuylkill River. There will also be samplings of spirits from Five Saints Distilling and Conshohocken Brewery. The organizer describes the event as follows:

As John Adams once wrote to his wife, Abigail, “I drink no cider, but feast on Philadelphia beer.”

Join us for an evening of spirits and history, as the Schuylkill River Town Program presents a fact and fun-filled program about the Schuylkill River – from its role as lifeblood of the Industrial Revolution and the “workshop of the world”, to a fiery open sewer, and finally to its recent rebirth as 2014 River of the Year and home to bald eagle and shad. Learn the incredible story of how the river has shaped our community and the nation!

To start us off, we will sample products from Norristown’s Five Saints Distillery and Conshohocken Brewing Company. Free!
